5 in 82

Of roughly 82 million urban Indians living with hair loss, about 5 million use anything structured. Most of the rest are treating a cause they have never had tested.

What we can treat here

Hair is where most men start. It is also the one where the wrong diagnosis costs a year.

8 months

Hair loss

Pattern loss and shedding need different treatment. We work out which you have before prescribing.

4 months

Dandruff and scalp

Severe, resistant scalp disease is treatable and usually mistreated with the wrong shampoo for years.

6 months

Beard growth

Some patchiness is genetic and stays. Some is treatable. We’ll tell you which.

What we’ll test

Ferritin and serum iron
Thyroid (TSH, free T4)
Vitamin D and B12
Complete blood count
Testosterone, free and total
Home sample collection

How long this actually takes

Nobody can shorten these. We’d rather you hear the real number now than in month four.

Week 0

Assessment and the blood panel. Nothing is prescribed yet.

Week 1

Results with a doctor. In a meaningful share of cases the answer is iron, not hormones.

Month 3

Shedding usually settles. New growth is not visible yet and won’t be.

Month 6

The first point at which anyone can honestly tell you whether it’s working.

What the evidence says

Ferritin is the appropriate first-line investigation in non-scarring hair loss, and correcting iron deficiency is itself a treatment.

Subclinical hypothyroidism frequently does not require treatment, and guidelines advise repeat testing before starting lifelong medication.

Questions about hair

Yes. Hair grows about a centimetre a month and the cycle cannot be shortened. Anyone promising four weeks is selling you something.

No. We are a medical consultation. If a transplant is the right answer for you we will say so, and we don’t perform them.

For pattern loss, usually yes — stopping means the loss resumes. A doctor will tell you that before you start, not after.
